Research

My research is broadly divided into structural engineering topics and research in engineering education.

Structural Engineering Research

My research into structural engineering lies in the areas of: Structural Control, Linear and Nonlinear Dynamics of Structures, Earthquake Engineering, Finite Element Modeling, Probabilistic Hazard Analysis, Structural Health Monitoring, Historic Preservation. Most of the work has a core of structural dynamics and vibrations, my main area of specialization.

Educational Research

My research into engineering education focuses on: Active learning and project-enhanced learning, high-impact learning activities. I have received funding for her engineering education research from the Department of Education FIPSE program and from the NSF CCLI program. I have also been involved in several professional developments that were provided by the AggieSTEM Center to Texas ISD teachers.
